Full Moon in Aquarius

Super Full Moon in Aquarius – August 10, 2014

EZe

Sculpture Garden in Eze, France

High on a distant hillside overlooking a broad perspective is the perfect place for the Full Moon in Aquarius. Known as The Water Bearer, many people mistake Aquarius for a water sign. But Aquarius belongs to the element Air and exhibits qualities of discernment, detachment, objectivity, clarity and intellectualism. In many ways this is the most aloof Moon since it needs to keep its distance in order to maintain its objectivity and expansive vision. We are living in the Age of Aquarius, a time of humanitarian values and global ethics, explosion of technology, and the invisible webs of the internet that bind us together across the world, both for good and for ill.

But during this Full Moon the normally cool Aquarius gets pulled into the heart energy of the fiery Leo Love cardSun which ignites a strong desire to create love. Aquarius takes this desire and expresses it in broad perspectives and global visions that include compassionate efforts to heal the world. Aquarius works through advanced technology, so much of Aquarian humanitarian work occurs over the the internet. Signing petitions, sending donations on-line, internet classes, global meditations, and communicating through text and email are all ways to Aquarius expresses its love.

For You: This Moon is saying that it is time to lead with your heart and let your head follow. Aquarius usually likes to figure everything out intellectually, step by step, like a giant chess game. The needs of the heart are often secondary to calculated decisions. But in this Moon you are being asked to put the needs of your heart first. Feel into what you want to do, what your soul calls for you to do. Then, use the intellectual capacities and broad visions of Aquarius to figure out how to make it occur. Maybe you’ve been wanting to change jobs or start a relationship but you keep coming up with all the reasons it can never happen. Get in a comfortable place and take slow deep breaths until it feels like you are heart-centered and your mind is calm. Then ask your heart what it really wants to do. Be open to the answer. Once you discover your current heart’s desire let your inquisitive mind figure out how to get started. Doing research on the internet or tapping into your social network are perfect ways to put your Aquarian ship into orbit.

New Moon in Leo August 6th

Full Moon at Bermuda Triangle

Full Moon at Bermuda Triangle

This Moon is reminding you that something new is stirring inside of you that wants to come into manifestation. You probably have been feeling it for a while and the latest Full Moon really brought into clarity that it is time to launch out to a new destination. The next Full Moon on August 20th will be a great time to set sail to a new port that you are willing to seek and hopeful to find.

There are two main challenges in setting sail for a new port. First, what is the direction and destination of your port? And two, believing that you have what it takes to make the journey. To counter the first challenge, imagine yourself in the future and see clearly what it is that you want to be doing and feeling. You don’t have to be specific at this point, but can see yourself happy, loved, secure, safe, joyful, adventuresome, and so on. Or you can be specific and see yourself on the author’s circuit at a book signing, opening day of a new business, getting your graduate degree, walking down the aisle with your beloved, holding your new child. So, once you have a clear sense of what you want you need to see it clearly. Imagine yourself  in the future being and doing this thing.

The second challenge is really believing that you can be and do your future heart’s desire. This difficulty is because your vision is only an wish and a prayer at this point. You know the person you are today, and that person is not yet the person you will become. Step into the heart and mind of your future self and see your task accomplished and your destination reached. How will you feel? act? live? Start to make your choices today based on who you want to be in the future.

The New Moon in Leo is a great time to believe in new beginnings and brings an extra boost of confidence and creativity to your endeavors. Take some time over this New Moon to write out a vision statement of what your new destination looks like and how you are acting and feeling now that you are there. Write it in the present tense and make it as specific as you can. You can also get an image or symbol that represents what you are manifesting for your future. While the words of the vision stimulate your left logical mind, the symbol will be a clear message to your right intuitive brain. Enjoy the excitement as your prepare for you

Full Moon in Aquarius- Twice!!

July and August 2013: The Moon, the interior soul, is in Aquarius. Aquarius is the most progressive and global of the zodiac signs.  It wants to break away from the normal routines and learn about what lies beyond the next horizon. This month’s Full Moon brings a sense of longing for a life different than the one you have been living. You might be feeling an inner urge to take some risks, to reach out, to get engaged in the ideas and concepts that will bring new richness to your world. The Sun, the outer ego, is in Leo, so it wants you to live with abandon to fulfill your personal desires and to be sure that whatever you engage in is fun, creative, full of passion, color, and excitement. Aquarius, a bit more detached and intellectual than Leo, is willing to find the balance between its broader humanitarian perspective and the Leo Sun’s personal desires by taking some calculated risks, actions that not only feed your personal needs but also work for the greater good. This Full Moon is challenging you to set sail for a destination that will be tons of fun for you personally and help humankind in the process. Risks will be involved, but not recklessness.

The Moon is in Aquarius, an air sign, so this is a perfect Full Moon to catch the wind and set sail to a port that you have longed wished to see. The ‘port’ is a symbol for something you have been wanting to do, but haven’t been sure you were prepared to do it. This might be actual travel, but could just as likely be a new job, relationship, book, education, activism, garden, or creative hobby. The ‘ship’ is a symbol for your physical body, your vehicle that is ready to get involved in something that excites you and deepens your connection to this life that you are now living. As Henry David Thoreau said, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” This Full Moon is asking you to Set Sail! Take the risks of a new destination. Don’t let your fears stop you. Your time on earth is limited, and you don’t know when you will return. This is your life, your time, your moment.

For You: Take a few deep breaths and let yourself settle in a comfortable position. Feel your body start to relax. Put one palm on your belly and the other palm on your chest and just breathe. Take deep belly breaths and feel your body rise and fall with each breath. Imagine that you are on the water, comfortably rising up and down with the rocking of the sea.  Imagine that you have a ship that you are ready to launch. See it clearly in your mind’s eye. It is a good ship, strong and sturdy. You have been preparing for this voyage for many years and have acquired all you need for a successful launch. See your ship shining as it floats on the sparkling water, docked at shore as it is being loaded for the journey. What are the goods that you have gathered? The skills, education, services, graces, and work that you have learned as part of this life that will be yours to utilize as you head to your new destination.  Allow yourself to feel good about the person you are, the skills you have, and the goods that your ship holds. Notice the crew, those people who are your allies that you can count on to encourage you, support you, and be there for you on smooth or rocky seas.  Feel the excitement, that blend of fear and joy, as you set out for the destination that you have always desired. Clearly see your destination, that place or thing or attitude that you are willing to seek and hopeful to find. And remember, you have an entire month to ponder these things and get clearer on your ship and your destination. Next month’s Full Moon will also be in Aquarius, so the universe is giving you plenty of time to get this one figured out.  See the New Moon in Leo on August 6th as a half way point to figuring out your dreams, with the next Full Moon in Aquarius on August 20th as the date to launch your ship.

Full Moon in Leo weekend of Jan 26/27

This Full Moon in Leo says it is time to quit pondering the possible and instead take action on the probable. This Moon says that the world is transforming now, very quickly, and that we need to be ready for this change and participate in it. But to do that we need to look clearly at our lives, narrow our focus, and figure out what is the most probable action to take that will move us forward and give us some success. Steve Jobs understood the Dilemma of the Possible and addressed it by saying: “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do.”

by Denise Kester

This Moon in Leo is urging us to be leaders in our own lives, and take actions that come from the desire of our hearts, not the “could’ve, should’ve” demands of our minds. Moon in Leo, a fire element, wants us to be radiant in the world, to shine a light for those around us. And that light can be as big as a lighthouse beacon or as small as a birthday candle. That choice is entirely up to you.

For you: On this Full Moon ask yourself: What is one thing I can do in my life right now that is most probable to succeed? It can be any task, big or small. Close your eyes and see yourself taking action on that task. Ask yourself: Am I willing to be the loving leader of my own life? Can I commit fully to accomplishing this one task? Will my passion for it light up my life? Open your eyes and meditate on this beautiful image, which is titled “Well Being Holding the World Together.” Imagine that you and your one probable thing are being embraced with well being by the Universe, surrounding you with strength and protection. Feel your one choice, your one probable thing, as the calm center that grounds you in this ever changing world.

Full Moon in Leo

Tuesday, Feb 7th, 2012

We all have a purpose. Some interior light in us burns bright and there is a desire to shine like the Sun. We might try to keep it down, or maybe we don’t know quite what it is, or perhaps we don’t believe in ourselves. But all of that hesitation matters for naught when the Moon is in Leo, because with Leo there is a strong desire to express yourself with visible actions in the world.

Leo, the Lion, is usually thought of as the King of the jungle. Described as a wild and powerful masculine energy, he uses sheer power of will and brute force gets his way. But there is also a feminine Leo energy as seen in Sekhmet, an ancient Egyptian goddess whose name means “she who is powerful.” When we think of goddess energy we usually think of the compassionate loving energy of Kuan Yin, Green Tara, or Mary. But there is another aspect of feminine spirituality that is fierce and powerful,  charging through reality with an intention that is unstoppable. This life sized statue of the lioness Sekhmet was one of hundreds created in ancient Egypt in an attempt to gain the favor of this volatile goddess. Sekhmet was the daughter of the Sun god and her headdress represents her solar qualities. She was known for a belligerent nature, full of fury and aggression. But when pacified, her ferocity could be redirected so that she became a potent and valuable protector of the young and weak.

This Full Moon think about your own fierce nature. Meditate on this powerful image of Sekhmet. See yourself as the fierce lioness. Acknowledge the anger and aggression that you have within yourself. But instead of holding your anger in, which can lead to depression, or directing it to those closest to you, which can lead to conflict, see it as a powerful and useful energy that can be a force for good. See yourself transforming your anger into a stable ball of radiant light that lies within you and surrounds you.  Breathe deep and connect to your clarity, calm, and spiritual wisdom. From that state of calm, focus on your ball of light and using mindful action, direct it purposely into the world.

Full Moon Friday Feb 18th

Embrace the Conflict! This is an alchemical drawing of the Sun and the Moon in battle. As you probably know, the Full Moon is a time when the Sun and Moon stand at opposite points in the heavens. Since this month the Sun is in Aquarius, the Moon is in the opposite sign of Leo. At the Full Moon I normally focus on the how the Sun and the Moon can resolve the differences of these opposing signs in order to connect in harmony. But this Full Moon is a time to focus on the conflict. There is an essential difference between the Sun and Moon. The Sun is yang energy, full of push and shove, and penetrating light that fills crevices with force and power. The Moon is yin energy, saturated with softness and filtered light. She dissolves into, softens, and absorbs. The Sun is espresso coffee and the Moon is green tea. Sometimes you need coffee to be alert and on top of things. Sometimes you need tea to slow down and relax.

This image has some similarity to the yin/yang symbol. The Moon holds a shield with an image of the Sun, and the Sun’s shield has an image of the changing Moon. Even though the Sun and Moon are in battle with one another, they are still dependent and interconnected. The Sun is clothed, protected with battle armour, surrounded with the intellectual conventions of what society says we “should” do. The Moon in naked, exposed, vulnerable.  She moves on interior emotion, intuition, and is willing to take the risk of being fully seen.

This month the Sun is forcefully pushing Aquarian energy of social justice, equality, globalization, technology, friendship, visions for the future, working within groups, being interconnected and expanding networks. The Moon is softening into things Leo, which include a strong and solid sense of self, bravery, drama, being on the public stage, having a stake in things, demanding to be seen and heard in an expressive and forceful manner. Both Aquarius and Leo are powerful, fixed, and stubborn. Imagine the events in Egypt and you can see this conflict in action.

For You: The revolution that we watched this week in Egypt is the same revolution that is taking place within you, your relationships, your community, and your country.  From Wednesday night through Saturday give yourself some time to reflect. Find a quiet place, get comfortable, take a few deep breaths and center yourself. Let your thinking quiet down, and let your body easily expand with your breath, like you are a balloon, ready to be filled. Once you have settled into the present, reflect on the situations in your life that are currently in opposition. Oppositions may exist in the exterior world with your partner, children, job, home, ecological sensibilities, and financial reality. Oppositions may exist in your interior world between your head and your heart, your longing to live a life that fully expresses yourself, and your sensible decisions to put hearth and home ahead of dreams for the future.

New Moon in Leo Monday August 9th

Update August 9th

Leo by Eric Williams

The Moon moves rather quickly and so only stays in a zodiac sign for about 2 1/2 days. A New Moon isn’t just when the Sun and Moon are in the same zodiac sign, it’s when they are in the same degree of the sign, in other words, really, really close (known in Astrology as an exact conjunction ). The Sun, since it stands still, is very regular in its appearance in the different zodiac signs, which is why you know what sign the Sun is in each year by the date. The Sun is in Leo from July 22st to August 22nd. So that means that this New Moon occurs in Leo. At 7:23 pm EDT on Sunday August 8th the Moon moved into the sign of Leo. On Monday at 11:08 pm EDT the Moon reaches 17 degrees of Leo, bringing it to the exact conjunction with the Sun. Each zodiac sign has 30 degrees, so this New Moon occurs pretty much right in the middle of the Sun’s Leo journey.

New Moons are times of new beginnings. A new birth of energy that is expressed in the zodiac sign where the conjunction occurs. This month is all about Leo. I discussed Leo in my last Moon Letter. In it I said that Leo is symbolized by the Lion – powerful, ferocious, fearless. At it’s best Leo is represented as a King/Queen, a ruler who uses her power for the good of all. She is confident, strong, smart, creative, and persistent is her unwavering action for what is right for her community. At its worst, Leo is power-hungry and self absorbed, and uses its power for personal gain with little regard for the consequences of its actions on others.

It is up to each person to direct her personal energy in life. We are not helpless, passive beings, certainly not when the Sun and Moon are in Leo, one of the most powerful signs in the zodiac. We need to live a life of conscious decision and wise choice. During a Leo New Moon it reminds us that it is with our full power that we can use our energy to start something good and creative, and generous. Or we can use our power to push our personal agenda with greed and dominance. I can only hope that the light and bright energy of Leo moves you towards the creation of something new that will be fun, playful, and enlivening. Feel the power of Ego, and then direct it towards something good, that benefits more than just yourself.

Leo/Aquarius Moon till Wednesday

The Sun is in Leo and the Moon is in the opposite sign of Aquarius. Leo and Aquarius are two very different qualities that we all have within us, and within our world. This Full Moon gives us the opportunity to think about how we can bring these different qualities into balance.

Leo is symbolized by the Lion – powerful, ferocious, fearless. We have seen the positive Leo qualities in leaders like Martin Luther King or Nelson Mandela. We have seen the negative qualities of Leo in the greedy and manipulative action of BP Oil Company. It seems we have plenty of examples in our country of a culture of corruption that is an example of Leo energy at its most destructive. The self-interest of politicians in Congress, the twisted faux news stories that are geared to make money instead of truth, the financial wheeling and dealing that led to the housing and economic crisis. Even the relentless heat of the summer seems to point to Leo energy that is off balance and out of control.

The Aquarian Full Moon is here to bring a balance to the hot and fiery nature of Leo. Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Bearer, and in this wonderful painting by Eric Williams, she is shown offering a long cool drink of water, generous and abundant for all. This open-minded giving to all people, regardless of race, creed, sex, or status is one of the hallmarks of Aquarius. At its best, Aquarius is an energy of humanitarian aid, and can be seen in such organizations as Doctor without Borders and the many individual volunteers to all the causes of peace, environmentalism, and social justice.

We can strive to find the balance between personal need and humanitarian giving at any time. But the energy during this full Moon is especially powerful, particularly Saturday and Sunday. I personally love to see the Full Moon, and if possible I will sit outside under her light and meditate and pray that the changes I want to see in the world begin with me.  This could be a good weekend to remember that beautiful song of “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.” Or, the wonderful song “From a Distance” that states that when you step back from greed and ego, the unity between all of us becomes more evident. To see it sung on YouTube of one of my favorite singers, Nancy Griffith, go to http://www.youtube.com/ or check out Bette Midler’s version.  The balance we seek with this Full Moon is to use our personal power and creative nature in the service of the health and prosperity of the world.
